Myanmar Conflict Worsens, UN: Must Stop Immediately

The United Nations says the intensity of fighting between Myanmar’s military forces and a number of armed militant groups is increasing.

“More than 37,000 people, including women and children, have recently been left homeless, and more than 160 settlements were burned to the ground, including churches and offices of humanitarian organizations,” Griffiths said.

The head of the UN aid program Martin Griffiths warned Monday that the humanitarian crisis situation in Myanmar is getting worse with its more than 3 million people currently in desperate need of assistance due to the escalating conflict and economic collapse in the Southeast Asian country.
